FLYING-for-FUN!

If getting your PILOT LICENCE

is on your BUCKET LIST, what are you waiting for?

Learning to FLY is a fun and exciting experience in itself, and once you have your licence, you can fly with your

Friends & Family, almost anywhere you choose!

You can also use your PILOT LICENCE to fly for BUSINESS purposes, to get to those distant meetings and events, and back home, without having to go through the hassle of using commercial flights, with airport security, boarding lineups, flight delays, multiple stops and car rentals to get to where you REALLY needed to go!

PRIVATE PILOT LICENCE

Your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) allows you to fly a Canadian Registered airplane, anywhere in the world!

There is no limit to the number of passengers (limited by aircraft seats, weight, etc.)

You can add RATINGS to your Private Pilot Licence, which will then allow you to conduct flights at night, in clouds, with more than one engine, "over-the-top" of clouds, and advanced aircraft and operations.

This is the FIRST STEP toward a Career in Aviation and is a requirement to enroll in a Commercial Pilot Training Program.

RECREATIONAL PILOT PERMIT

The Recreational Pilot Permit allows you to fly recreationally, but with some strict limitations:

  • You may fly with Only One Passenger.

  • You may fly a Canadian Registered airplane with a Maximum of 4 seats (four-place airplane).

  • You cannot add any Ratings to your Recreational Pilot Permit, such as Night, VFR Over-the-Top, or Multi-Engine.

It is easy to upgrade from a Recreational Pilot Permit to a Private Pilot Permit, but most Pilots skip the RPP completely and make the Private Pilot Licence their first step into Flight.

ADVANCED FLIGHT TRAINING

Once you have your Private Pilot Licence (PPL), you can then add advanced Ratings and take Advanced Flight Training, in order to grow your Pilot Knowledge, Skills, Confidence, and Capabilities!

NIGHT RATING

Flying in DAYTIME is GREAT,

but Flying at NIGHT is AMAZING!

Your NIGHT RATING is an additional endorsement to your Private Pilot Licence.

Upon successful completion of the NIGHT RATING Program, you will be licenced to fly at night!

(as opposed to "Daylight Hours Only").

Night flying is a unique and rewarding experience, and allows for much greater flexibility in terms of planning your flights and trips.

VFR OVER-the-TOP RATING

Your VFR Over-the-Top (OTT) RATING is an additional endorsement to your Private Pilot Licence.

Completion of the VFR-OTT Rating allows you to fly VFR (Visual Flight Rules), Over-the-Top of cloud layers, as long as the departure and arrival airports are experiencing (and forecast to continue to experience) Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).

This allows you to fly on days when a cloudy sky might otherwise prevent you from flying!

MOUNTAIN FLYING

Flying in the mountains is a very different experience than flying in non-mountainous regions.

The risks, hazards, weather phenomena, terrain, winds and turbulence can be very different, and often much more variable and intense, than in other types of terrain.

Mountain Flight Training is recommended for any Pilot who is new to the mountain flying environment, or for those who would benefit from a refresher, if they have not been flying in mountainous terrain for a while.

There is no formal RATING for mountain flying, so there is no endorsement on your licence, but your enhanced awareness and knowledge of mountain flying will help to provide you with a safer and more enjoyable experience when flying in the mountain environment.

COMPLEX & CONGESTED AIRSPACE TRAINING

Flying in the congested airspace which surrounds a large airport, or a complex airport environment (like the Lower Mainland - Vancouver area) can be very intimidating and challenging for a low-time Pilot, a Private or Recreational Pilot, or even an experienced Commercial Pilot who may have worked primarily in remote "bush" environments.

Our "Congested Airspace Training" program will provide you with the knowledge and experience you need to confidently manage a flight through such airspace, including flight planning, navigation and communications.

You will take one or more flights into and through the complex and congested airspace of the Lower Mainland, with one of our experienced instructors, so that you can safely see and learn in the real-world environment, and become familiar with the procedures, routes and communications required to safely carry out your desired flights.

INSTRUMENT RATING (IFR RATING)

If you are flying Recreationally, for Yourself or your Business, getting your INSTRUMENT RATING will expand your flying options tremendously!

Upon successful completion of the INSTRUMENT RATING (IFR) RATING Program, you will be able to fly in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). This means that you will be able to fly when the weather conditions do not meet the requirements of Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).

The basic requirements of VMC flight are that you must maintain "visual" reference to the ground, and that you must "see and be seen".

IFR flight rules allow the operation of an aircraft in conditions that preclude visual reference to the ground, including low visibility, low cloud, fog, etc.

IFR flight involves learning how to control the position, attitude and path of the aircraft through reference to the information provided by the aircraft's INSTRUMENTS, rather than through visual reference to the ground.

If you are pursuing a Career as a Professional Pilot, the IFR Rating is an essential qualification to have.

MULTI-ENGINE RATING

If you are flying Recreationally or for Yourself or your Business, the Multi-Engine Rating will expand your flying options greatly.

If you or your business are planning to Buy an Airplane, you might consider a "twin-engine" aircraft, which is typically faster and more capable!

Perhaps you would like to RENT a "Twin", to go to a meeting or take your Family on an Adventure!

In order to fly a "twin", you will need to get your Multi-Engine Rating!

Upon successful completion of MULTI-ENGINE RATING Program, you will be able to fly airplanes with more than one engine. This will allow you to operate larger aircraft, with better performance, retractable landing gear, constant-speed propellers, etc.

If you are pursuing a Career as a Professional Pilot, the Multi-Engine Rating is an important qualification to have.

Most Multi-Engine rated Pilots will want to get their

"Multi-IFR" rating, so that they can fly their multi-engine airplane in almost any weather!
